YOU NEED A TRAINING THAT WORKS WITH THE LIFE YOU ALREADY HAVE.
There’s an old saying that there’s never a perfect time to do your 200hr Teacher Training. Life is busy. There’s work, family, relationships, travel, commitments, and a hundred other things competing for your attention. And if you keep waiting for life to become less full, you might never take the leap. Hybrid learning gives you the best of both worlds: the freedom and flexibility of self-paced learning, combined with the structure, connection and support of learning with other people, and the guidance of hands-on mentors, experts and teachers. You’ll work through the curriculum at your own pace, while having weekly guidance, live zoom sessions, check-ins, mentoring and a supportive community of fellow teachers-in-training.
Because becoming a great teacher isn’t just about completing 200 hours of learning. It’s about having the time and space to actually understand, practise, reflect and integrate.
THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Traditional in-person trainings can be incredible, but they also require a significant commitment of time, travel and availability. For many people, taking several weeks off work, or multiple long weekend modules away from family or everyday life simply isn’t possible.
A hybrid training removes that barrier without removing the human connection. You get the flexibility to fit your learning around your life, while still having real teachers, mentors and peers to learn from, people to practise with and a community to keep you accountable.
It’s structured enough to keep you moving forward, self-paced so you can learn in a schedule that works for you, and connected enough that you never feel like you’re doing it alone.

PRACTICE WITH PURPOSE
Our belief that how you do anything is how you do everything. As students and teachers when we step onto the mat or into the seat of a teacher, it's about bringing a sense of purpose to everything we do, from how we move, to how we breath and to what we share. If this feels like a perspective you can get down with, then this is the place for you.
Welcome to the Teachers Practice 200hr Yoga Teacher Training, a place to learn, share and grow together.
Our Mission is simple, to help educate and inspire the next generation of teachers and students with quality, depth and perspective.

HOW TO TEACH A PRACTICE WITH PURPOSE
Meet Your Teacher
Hi, I’m Michael, and I’m really glad you’re here.
For the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching Yoga and Meditation and over that time, I’ve trained more than 1,000 teachers in Yoga, Breathwork and Meditation through our 200hr and 300/500hr teacher training programmes.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to turn something I love into my life’s work. And after two decades, I’m still just as curious, passionate and excited about where this practice can take us. I have no plans of stopping anytime soon.
As the Founder and Lead Teacher of Teachers Practice, Krama Yoga School and Just Breathe, it’s a real privilege to be able to guide you through your training and help you figure out what kind of teacher you want to become.
I was born in New Zealand, raised in Los Angeles, and now call London home with my wife, our two boys, Milo and Felix, and our pup, Gus.
If you have any questions before we begin, or simply want to say hello, please reach out. You can message me anytime at @michaeljameswong.

IS THIS TRAINING
FOR ME?
If your life is already full, that doesn’t mean you have to wait. If you're someone who relates to the below, then this training is for you.
- Value independence but don’t want to learn alone and want the freedom of self-paced study alongside live teaching, mentorship and community.
- You work full-time or have a demanding career and can’t take several weeks, weekends away from work.
- Have children or family commitments and need a training that can fit around school runs, childcare and family life.
- Have an unpredictable schedule and need the freedom to work through their training around their life.
- Want more time to absorb the material rather than cramming 200 hours into a few intense weeks.
- Learn better with learning material you can keep going back to. In the learning platform you can watch, rewatch and take as much time as you want to digest and understand.
- Already teach, work or study in another field and want to transition into yoga without putting their existing career on hold.
- Live far from major cities and want access to a high-quality teacher training with world-class teacher trainers.
- Are serious about becoming a thoughtful and purposeful yoga teacher, rather than simply collecting a certificate.
- Want to build yoga into their future whether that’s teaching alongside another career, creating a new career path, or eventually building their own yoga business.
HOW MUCH STUDY IS THERE EACH WEEK?
Let's do some basic math. The course is 200hr total. The retreat immersion counts for 100hrs, and your live-zoom sessions count for another 24. Which means you've got just over 75hrs of online video lectures to learn, digest and understand.
Throughout the 12 weeks of learning, there are 12 modules to complete.
Each week will have a mixture of practices, video-lectures, practice teaching to record and submit, quizzes and group discussions.
Module 1:
3x 45-60min practices
20x 10min video-lectures
1x Practice teaching recording
1x 30 question quiz
WHAT IF I DON'T
WANT TO TEACH?
You don’t have to want to become a yoga teacher to take this training.
While our 200hr training is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and certification to teach yoga, teaching is only one possible outcome. Many people join a teacher training because they want to go deeper into their own practice, better understand the body and breath, explore yoga philosophy, or simply learn more about a practice that has become an important part of their life.
You might begin the training thinking you’ll never teach a class and that’s completely okay.
You’ll also explore meditation, breathwork, anatomy, sequencing, philosophy and the many layers of yoga beyond the physical practice. These are skills and insights that can stay with you long after the training is over, whether you choose to share them with others or keep them as part of your own personal practice.
So, if you’re not sure whether you want to teach, you don’t need to have the answer before you begin. Come to deepen your practice. Come to learn. Come to ask better questions. Come because you’re curious. If teaching becomes part of your path, you’ll be prepared for it. And if it doesn’t, you’ll still have gained something deeply valuable from the journey.
HOW DO I KNOW
IF I'M READY?
Starting your 200hr YTT is not about how long you've been practice, no formal number of years is required. What matters most is curiosity, commitment and a willingness to learn. You don’t need to be the most flexible or advanced person in the room, you simply need to be willing to practise and engage with the process. If you genuinely love the practice, and you're interested in learning more and perhaps maybe one day teaching and sharing it with others. Then you're more than ready to get started.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE
A STRONG PRACTICE?
There’s a common misconception that you need to look like a yogi before you can become a yoga teacher. We don’t believe that’s what yoga is about. Yoga is not a flexibility competition, and your ability to perform an advanced posture has very little to do with your ability to understand, practise or teach the deeper principles of yoga.
In fact, being a beginner can be one of your greatest strengths as a teacher. It can help you remember what it feels like to learn something new, to feel uncertain in a posture, to struggle with balance or coordination, and to need clear, compassionate guidance. Those experiences can make you a more empathetic and relatable teacher. Our training is designed to meet you where you are. You’ll learn how to work with your own body, understand the principles behind the postures and develop a practice that is appropriate for you rather than trying to force your body into a particular shape.
We’re much more interested in helping you understand why we practise, how the practice works and how to communicate it effectively than whether you can demonstrate the most advanced version of a pose.
IS THERE A FINAL EXAM OR ASSESSMENT?
Yes there is! Why? Because it's important to ensure you are safe and knowledgable to go out into the world and share the practice. AND it's a certification requirement.
What are they? At the end of the course, you will sit two assessment exams.
Written Exam: 100 Question exam on all course material. This is a mix of multiple choice, fill in the blank and short answer writing.
Practical Exam: You will teach a 60min class using the TP Training Sequence that includes asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation.
But don't worry, the course is designed and structured to ensure you are ready and prepared for your final assessments.
But what if I don't pass? I know it's easy to get into a headspin about the exams. Trust in the process and study hard. But in the event you do not pass your written or practical exam, you do not fail, you will just need to retake your assessments again until you complete.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE SOME OF THE DAYS?
Because this is a 200-hour certification programme, attendance and completion requirements matter. If circumstances arise that affect your ability to complete the training, we’ll work with you to understand your options and any requirements for making up missed learning or assessments. The goal is to support you while maintaining the integrity of the certification.
However we do understand that life is sometimes unpredictable and things change without warning. Therefore we have a some wiggle room for live attendance.
Throughout the course you are allowed to miss the below allocation of time:
Part 1: Opening Weekend
* You must attend both sessions live
(If this is not possible, please let us know at time of enrolment)
Part 2: Modules & Live Zooms
* 9 out of 12 session must be attended live
(speak to your course mentor for support plan / recordings must be watched with 48hrs)
Part 3: Teachers Immersion (In-Person)
* 7 out of 8 days must be attended live
(speak to your course mentor for support plan)
ARE THERE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE?
Yes there is! We offer three different payment plan options.
Option 1: Pay in Full
Option 2: Three payments (monthly) from first payment
Option 3: Five payments (monthly) from first payment
If these options are beyond your means, let us know and suggest an alternative plan. We'll do our best to accommodate if we can!
ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
Yes. We believe yoga teacher training should be accessible to people who are genuinely committed to learning, growing and becoming a teacher, regardless of their financial circumstances.
For each training, we reserve one scholarship place for a student who demonstrates a genuine commitment to the practice and to their development as a teacher, but who may not otherwise be able to access the training due to financial hardship or circumstances outside of their control.
We offer scholarships for BIPOC students and those experiencing financial hardship. Scholarships are awarded on an individual basis and are intended for applicants who would benefit meaningfully from financial support and who are able to demonstrate their commitment to completing the full training.
Our scholarships are not based on your experience, physical ability or how advanced your yoga practice is. We’re interested in your intention, your commitment to learning and why completing this training matters to you.
Because we have a limited number of scholarship places, we encourage you to apply only if you genuinely require financial assistance. We want to make sure the opportunity goes to someone who truly needs it and is ready to fully engage with the training. If you believe you may qualify, please get in touch with our team and tell us a little about your circumstances, your relationship with yoga and why you would like to undertake the training. All applications are considered thoughtfully and confidentially.
We may not be able to offer financial support to everyone who applies, but we are committed to creating pathways for people who are genuinely motivated to learn, teach and contribute to the wider yoga community.
We offer both full scholarships & partial scholarships for trainings.
